Our History

Atacama Labs Oy started as a patenting and IPR consulting company, IPRBOX Oy, in December 2004.

In March 2005, the Company acquired all rights to the Pneumatic Dry Granulation invention (PDG Technology™) from its initial inventor. During an R&D period from November 2005 to March 2008, the PDG-433 prototype was developed and the complete IP-portfolio was created.

In December 2006, the Company hived down the IPR business and was renamed to Atacama Labs Oy.

During 2009, the company completed the business plan and became a pharmaceutical company. At this point, the new CEO Steffen Mittwich joined the company to lead it into the market. Supported by an advisory board with solid industry experience two core partnerships were signed: for GMP production with Excella GmbH (Germany), a global top 10 CMO company and for specialized galenic development with R5 (UK).

In Feb. 2010, Dr. Rob Lammens joined the company as CTO and in April 2010 the latest fully automated cGMP compliant PDG-0260 machinery was installed.
